From the space jazz formation The Comet Is Coming to his own quartet Sons of Kemet - British tenor saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings has experienced a rapid rise in the global jazz scene since the mid-2010s. His sometimes meditative, sometimes brutally raw tone has become his sonic signature

Together with South African musicians, he is now exploring the possibilities of a common musical language against different cultural backgrounds under the name Shabaka And The Ancestors. in 2016, the band released their album debut "Wisdom Of Elders," now followed by "We Are Sent Here By History," a second work also recorded in Johannesburg. It combines spiritual jazz with South African Nguni, Central African song structures and Caribbean calypso. A stirring mixture!
