When Wayne Shorter recorded his last solo album for Blue Note in 1970 with "Odyssey Of Iska", he was going through a period of upheaval. The saxophonist had only recently left Miles Davis' band, with whom he had recorded the jazz fusion pioneer albums "In A Silent Way" and "Bitches Brew", among others, and was about to launch Weather Report together with Joe Zawinul and Miroslav Vitouš. The music on "Odyssey Of Iska" reflects his recent work with Miles and also gives a foretaste of the music to come with Weather Report.
Blue Note Tone Poet Edition: Stereo, produced by Joe Harley, completely analog remastered by Kevin Gray from the original tapes, RTI pressing (180g), sturdy tip-on single sleeve, padded inner sleeve.
