The Proclaimers, was founded in 1987 by twin brothers Charlie and Craig Reid. The duo is known for their distinctive Scottish accent and infectiously melodic songs about love, politics and life in Scotland. They are known for unforgettable songs such as "Sunshine on Leith", "I'm On My Way", "Letter from America" and of course the hit single "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)".

"This Is the Story" is The Proclaimers' debut studio album, released in 1987. It contains the full-band version of "Letter from America" produced by Gerry Rafferty, which reached number 3 in the UK Singles Chart.
