The Way We Were Vol.1 [CD]

This 17-track album is an exciting collection of previously unreleased demo recordings, all taken from his personal archive and written by the strong songwriting team of Rossi and Bob Young. Five songs are previously unreleased and have never been heard outside the studio, while others later appeared on a STATUS QUO or Francis Rossi album. These early versions capture the purity of the initial ideas and offer a fascinating insight into the creative process they then underwent as they evolved into a final version.

Included are songs that later appeared on a number of STATUS QUO albums: "Heavy Traffic" (2002), "The Party Ain't Over Yet" (2005), "XS All Areas" (2004), "In Search Of The Fourth Chord" (2007) and Rossi's acclaimed second solo album "One Step At A Time" (2010).

A variety of styles, and indeed intentions, can be seen here. What all the songs have in common is that they are presented in the manner in which they were originally created. There's something pure and simple about these recordings, and while some of them went on to become outright smash hits after receiving the full classic QUO treatment on some popular albums, here they are heard in the first flowering of their youth.
