"The Train I'm On" was Tony Joe White's fifth album. It was produced by Jerry Wexler and Tom Dowd and recorded in 1972 at the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studio.
"The Train I'm On", which is acoustically structured for long stretches and built on a tight, intimate sound overall, is steeped in the darker side of White's usual swamp rock sound, filled with songs about unresolved loves and lives and men in unresolvable situations.Throughout much of the album, he displays a surprising vulnerability and emotional complexity that wasn't always evident on his earlier work.
Dark, thoughtful, soulful, bluesy rock, underscored by striking acoustic guitar work. "The Train I'm On" spawned three singles, including "I've Got a Thing About You Baby", which was mainly covered by Elvis Presley.
"The Train I'm On" is available in a limited edition of 1000 individually numbered copies on yellow vinyl.
