The Purple Bird (Limited Edition) (Purple Vinyl) [LP]

Bonnie "Prince" Billy - alias of musician Will Oldham - will release his new studio album entitled "The Purple Bird". "The Purple Bird" was recorded in Nashville with producer David "Ferg" Ferguson and an ensemble of first-class session musicians. It could be described as "a real Nashville record", consisting of a collection of songs that were mainly written at Ferg's kitchen table.

On "The Purple Bird", Bonnie "Prince" Billy works with a producer for only the second time in his illustrious career. His relationship with Ferg goes back more than two decades to the sessions for the Johnny Cash album American III with Rick Rubin, where Ferg acted as engineer and Cash recorded a cover version of the BPB track "I See A Darkness".

The two have worked together on numerous projects over the years, but none as intensively as "The Purple Bird". What does "a proper Nashville" record mean to the enigmatic Bonnie "Prince" Billy? At the beginning of the sessions, Ferg had said to Oldham: "I don't want to make a country record, just do your shit, Will."
