As a follow-up to their acclaimed Nonesuch debut Life On Earth, which landed on the Best Of 2022 lists of the New York Times, Rolling Stone US, NPR Music, Mojo and Uncut, among others.
Hurray For The Riff Raff have reunited with their singer Brad Cook on "The Past Is Still Alive" and at the same time expanded their creative roster of collaborators. Anjimile, Conor Oberst and S.G. Goodman sing together with Segarra on various parts of the album.
Musicians include Cook, Libby Rodenbough, Matt Douglas, Meg Duffy of Hand Habits, Mike Mogis, Phil Cook and Yan Westerlund. The "nature punk" of Life On Earth marked a departure from Hurray For The Riff Raff as they reflected on surviving and thriving in a world in crisis.
The Past Is Still Alive turns the focus back inward, with arrangements that are raw, melodies that are direct and indelible, and lyrics that are personal but largely rooted in family and community.
