"The Atacama Experience "* was conceived by jazz violinist Jean-Luc Ponty as a musical journey. This journey begins in the introduction with a Parisian street scene, which is followed by thirteen songs that take the listener through various countries, a range of different impressions and emotions as well as into the musical past and present. The recordings were made between January 2006 and February 2007, during which time Ponty and his band traveled to various continents and performed in South America, Europe, the USA and India. In between, he returned to France again and again to transform the fresh impressions and new insights into recordings for this project.
