The Alan Parsons Project "Pyramid" will be re-released in various formats, including Blu-ray Disc (ABC Region Free) with Dolby Atmos, 5.1 surround sound mixes by Alan Parsons and a high-resolution (96 / 24) stereo remaster by Miles Showell.
Their third studio album "Pyramid" was originally released in May 1978. It was a concept album centered around the pyramids of Giza. At the time this album was made, interest in pyramids and the so-called pyramid power was all the rage. A pyramid could be seen on the back of a dollar bill, newspapers were reporting on the supposed magical properties of pyramids and, of course, the cover of Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" could be seen.
As with other The Alan Parsons Project albums, the emphasis was on very high quality studio sound production and they recorded the album at Abbey Road Studios in London. A variety of different lead vocalists were used, including John Miles, Colin Blunstone, Lenny Zakatek, David Paton, Jack Harris and Dean Ford. They were joined by a number of studio musicians including guitarist Ian Bairnson and drummer Stuart Elliot with arrangements by Andrew Powell.
