The album has been remastered by Heba Kadry and is the first Cale artist authorized reissue of the popular album. "The Academy in Peril" includes the bonus track "Temper".

"Revisiting works from the past is a double-edged sword for me. Of course, it's inevitable when you've been making music for 60 years or so. What's special about this process with Domino is that they want to get it right. It's not about reissuing something just for an anniversary or collecting a catalog favorite, it's about finding new treasures and highlighting what made them special in the first place.

After listening to the test pressings, it occurred to me that the new mastering was an essential part of presenting these works, rather than simply preserving them. There are moments of clarity and even a laugh or two when reviewing not only the music, but the sessions (and antics) that produced these two recordings.
