It was a legendary event and the highlight of the 'Classic Open Air' in summer 2014: Germany's best-known electronic artist Schiller gave a concert with a pop symphony orchestra at the Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin.
Schiller promoter Christopher von Deylen admitted that he likes kitsch - well-made kitsch - for "Symphonia", the one-off live event. On the other hand - one would like to reply to him - the hits of his many years of work, together with such a large, symphonic orchestra and the guest stars, give you goosebumps, whether you want to as a listener and viewer or not.
Schiller-Kopf Christopher has completely rearranged songs such as "Sehnsucht", "Ein schöner Tag" and "Das Glockenspiel" for the large orchestra in the "Symphonia" project. The orchestral arrangements, together with the electronic sounds of Schiller, create an opulent sound.
Christopher von Deylen brought Midge Ure, the frontman of Ultravox, Jaël from Switzerland and the soprano Eva Mali from Russia to Berlin as guest stars for "Symphonia". The Count of Unheilig performed "Sonne", the title track of the album of the same name, live for the first time.
