"Solo" is George Kooymans' second album after "Jojo", which was originally released in 1987. Kooymans, who is known as one of the founders, singer and guitarist of the popular band Golden Earring, became famous with his band.

Among other things, he wrote the song "Twilight Zone", which reached number 1 on the Billboard Top Album Tracks charts. "Solo" is an album with many original compositions, complemented by a rock version of the Sonny & Cher hit "The Beat Goes On".
