The album "Shankar Family & Friends" by the world-famous Indian musician Ravi Shankar was originally released in 1974. It was produced by George Harrison and was one of the first albums released through the Dark Horse Records label.
The album "East-meets-West" features Western musicians such as Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, Klaus Voorman and Nicky Hopkins meeting Indian music pioneers Alla Rakha, Ashish Khan, Shivkumar Sharma and Hariprasad Chaurasia.
The album includes the first single released on Dark Horse, "I Am Missing You," featuring Lakshmi Shankar on vocals, accompanied by a full Western rock band.
