At the beginning of the 1960s, tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley, who was otherwise often overshadowed by John Coltrane and Sonny Rollins, really hit his stride. Seemingly effortlessly, he churned out one hard bop masterpiece after another. One of these albums was "Roll Call", on which he showed off his inventiveness, wit and unique rhythmic dexterity to perfection.
