"Get Sunk" is an ode to the infinite. It brings brush-painted, hazy memories to the surface, piling up into a heap of colors and connections that stretches beyond individuality into endless change. Underwater, everything moves in slow motion, and Matt Berninger saw his creative voice slip away with the current. 

But sometimes we need to drown to remember how to breathe. "Get Sunk" is the cleansing inhale. It is the sight of the rippling reflection in the water and the realization that you are not yourself without a thousand others: Parents, friends, siblings, spouses and ex-boyfriends, college roommates, childhood best friends, cousins, even strangers - all make up the spirit of the narrator of "Get Sunk." Berninger wanted to find out why he loves what he does, and it's the collaborative spirit of the album and the loose, unfolding attitude that made Berninger look up and feel the warmth in his face. When we sink into ourselves, we often realize that we're actually swimming with others.
