It comes as no surprise that Wolfgang Van Halen is a gifted musician. After all, his father Eddie Van Halen is considered one of the greatest rock guitarists of all time. But the second album by his solo project Mammoth WVH, "Mammoth II", proves just how good the Californian really is.
At the age of 15, Wolfgang Van Halen joined his father's band - with his uncle Alex Van Halen on drums - as a bass player. A role that he also took on in the following years on two albums by Creed and Alter Bridge guitarist Mark Tremonti's band.
After the death of his father and the end of Van Halen, Wolfgang launches his own baby, Mammoth WVH. Here, the 32-year-old plays all the instruments himself and also demonstrates his vocal skills. The first single "Distance" is a huge success on US rock radio and earns the project its first Grammy nomination.
