Finnish composer Lauri Porra invites you on a journey through the "Seasons in Moominvalley". Just in time for the 80th anniversary of the publication of Tove Jansson's first Moomin story, Porra has composed 21 atmospheric pieces for piano, string ensemble or a combination of both (sometimes even with nature sounds) that let you experience the seasons, beaches and forests of Moominvalley in a whole new way.
Each piece relates to a specific scene from the books - for example, "A Song for the Sea" is inspired by Moominpapa standing by the water and philosophizing about the whims of the sea, while "A Song for Winter" picks up on a scene where a character realizes that winter is the season when shy and retiring animals and people blossom. This album is a loving tribute to Tove Jansson's timeless stories.
For vinyl lovers, the limited 180g picture vinyl edition is a real collector's item that includes four exclusive postcards and two high-quality lithographs. The LP design also features a fascinating zoetrope effect that creates the illusion of animation when the record spins on a turntable.
