Send A Prayer My Way (Limited Edition) [Blue Vinyl] [LP]

After it had already become apparent in recent months and Julien Baker & TORRES recently released their first joint single "Sugar in the Tank", the two have now announced their debut album "Send a Prayer My Way". It will be released by Matador.

The idea of making a country album together came up back in 2016, when Baker & TORRES played their first show together. The result is a work that, like all enduring country albums, reminds us that no one is alone in this world and that music is a reliable and constant companion. "Send a Prayer My Way" contains twelve songs of radical empathy, in which second and third chances are granted and, despite all the struggle and regret, there is also humor and resistance.

With the announcement of the album comes the new single "Sylvia", a tribute to a companion of a very special kind. TORRES reports: "On the morning I was leaving to get Sylvia from the animal shelter, I made myself a coffee at home and switched on the radio. Dolly Parton's 'Cracker Jack' was playing. I burst into tears - it felt like the universe was telling me that she was mine - but Sylvia was only meant to be a foster dog. I remember thinking that I would love to write a song like this, a song that people can feel inside within five seconds of turning it on. Because anyone who has ever had the honor of sharing their home with a beloved pet knows that it's part of the family."

Julien Baker & TORRES gave the first taste of their new album a month ago with an appearance on Jimmy Fallon. There they performed their debut single "Sugar in the Tank". The song tells of experiences growing up as a queer person in the southern states. It not only reflects the pair's love of country music, which is deeply rooted there, but also transports the traditions and iconography of the genre into the here and now.

"Send A Prayer My Way" is a country album written and sung in the best outlaw tradition - defiant, subversive and determined, comforting and sincere.
