Norwegian musician, artist and author Jenny Hval announces her new album "Iris Silver Mist" and European live dates with the release of the single "To Be A Rose". The album is named after a fragrance by perfumer Maurice Roucel, which is said to smell more like steel than silver, cold and pungent, but at the same time soft and shimmering - like stepping out of the house early on a foggy morning, your body still warm from sleep. A perfume with its heart notes and accords shares language with music. Both travel through the air, unmistakable and yet invisible.

However, the story of "Iris Silver Mist" does not begin with music, but with its absence. When the pandemic meant that there were no more venues for live music, the smells of cigarettes and soap, of warm sweat under the stage lights and shared toilets were replaced: by disembodied, algorithmic listening at home. For Hval, this led to a sudden interest in perfume, which had been dormant since his teenage years. Smelling, reading, collecting, writing - she immersed herself in the world of fragrances while putting her music on hold for the time being. It took a year to understand what had happened: Hval was looking for another way to feel physical closeness She had filled the void left by music with fragrances.
