The Swing Out Sisters debut album, 1987's "It's Better to Travel," is a dreamy collection of mostly electronic pop music, with its thoughtful use of real strings and horns and Drewery's lovely voice, reminiscent of the throaty purr of Dusty Springfield of old.
The album spawned the worldwide hit "Twilight World" and also a classic with the sunny opening track "Breakout. The album's tracks like the Northern Soul-influenced "Fooled by a Smile" and the cinematic instrumental "Theme From It's Better To Travel," are in no way inferior to the singles, and the well-crafted album has a natural flow.
