At last, a CD full of wonderful Columbia recordings by the falsetto pop king - including all the singles and 15 previously unreleased masters. Lou Christie's four-octave range is one of the most exciting and easily recognizable sounds of 1960s pop. He achieved international success with "The Gypsy Cried", "Two Faces Have I" (both 1963), "Lightnin", Strikes' "Rhapsody In The Rain" (both 1966) and "I'm Gonna Make You Mine" (1969), before releasing one of his most enduring songs, "Beyond The Blue Horizon", in 1973.
The breadth of the compilation shows just how diverse his influences were. From an open salute to Berry Gordy, the elegant Supremes to Burt Bacharach, he was clearly a big pop fan. Like Sinatra, Elvis, the Beatles and Bruce Springsteen, Lou Christie never shied away from talking about his influences; equally, he created something quite unique from these diverse ingredients.
