Although Etta Jones (1928-2001) never became a household name, she achieved some success as a jazz singer A certain success as a jazz singer. She performed from 1949 to 1952 with the sextet of Earl Hines' sextet and received three Grammy nominations during her lifetime, one of them for her 1960 LP "Don't Go to Strangers" with Frank Wess and Roy Haynes.
This LP turned Etta Jones into an overnight sensation when the title track went Gold, reached the top 40 in the pop charts and number five in the R&B charts reached.
