Some creative veins are so hot they can't be satisfied with a single album. In a rare career first for a multi-platinum, Grammy-nominated global superstar who has seen and done it all, Kenny Wayne Shepherd will release Part II of his "Dirt On My Diamonds" vision.

After the highly acclaimed "Dirt On My Diamonds Vol. 1" was released just last November, Shepherd's fans are still buzzing about the first installment of the excellent material ("There's no denying the impact he makes," wrote Classic Rock, "when he lets the blues off the leash").

But the Louisiana-born bandleader always had a bigger plan. Now, with a second set of songs crafted during the same writing sessions at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, he presents a follow-up album that's a different animal altogether, with a shared DNA. "When I started writing all these songs, I started to see two individual identities emerge," Shepherd explains of "Dirt On My Diamonds Vol. 2." "You hear the same spirit on both albums, but the songs, sounds and grooves are very different.

Because of the way people live and consume music today, we decided to stagger the releases - but it's basically a double album. We had the creative momentum on our side, so we just wanted to keep it going."
