Formed in London's Ladbroke Grove neighborhood, The Deviants were the closest thing to the Mothers Of Invention in the '60s British rock scene, with Zappa-esque songs like "The Junior Narco Rangers," "Billy The Monster," "Metamorphosis Exploration," "Rambling Black Transit Blues," and a Stooges-like penchant for fuzz guitar freakouts that brought in Paul Rudolph.

Lead singer Mick Farren was one of the most intriguing figures to emerge from the British underground. Musically, Mick Farren never did anything that wasn't extreme. He worked with Lemmy of Hawkwind and Wayne Kramer of the MC5, among others, who were at the forefront of rock and roll. Deviants # III from 1969 was the third and last record he recorded with his band, which renamed itself The Pink Fairies.
