"It's simply a pop album. Actually, there's not much to say - a handful of tightly arranged pop songs, organically recorded with my band and mixed by Bjarne Stensli in the greatest way," says Sivert Høyem.

It's strange to hear him talk about "pop". Pop music in 2024 means programmed beats, sampled sounds and autotune. Singer, songwriter and producer are rarely one and the same person. "Dancing Headlights" is five guys live in the studio, distorted guitars and hardly a digital tool in sight. It's hard to imagine anything further removed from today's pop strategies.

But pop has a different meaning for Sivert, who thinks of the Beatles and the wonderful pop era of the 80s when he thinks of pop. It stands for a kind of timeless quality and universal appeal, which Sivert strives for on "Dancing Headlights". Songwriting in its strongest and most immediate form.
