The number 2 was the "golden number" for bassist Charlie Haden throughout his life. When he started his solo career in the 1970s, he was the first to record five albums in a row, sometimes with just one, sometimes with changing duo partners. On "Golden Number" in 1977, he was heard in four exciting dialogs with his avant-garde colleagues Ornette Coleman, Don Cherry, Archie Shepp and Hampton Hawes.
