Over the course of five decades, Steve Lukather has left an indelible mark on pop culture. In addition to being the only member of TOTO to never take a break from the band, he has contributed to thousands of albums as a session musician. These musical contributions include some of the most successful, influential and enduring records of all time, including Michael Jackson's Thriller. He also published a memoir entitled The Gospel According To Luke, which became a worldwide bestseller. He continues to be the bandleader of TOTO, a member of Ringo's All-Starr Band and a solo artist.
TOTO has enjoyed a celebrated worldwide resurgence over the past decade. By 2022-2023, the band will have performed in front of almost a million fans. Their repertoire has more than 3 MILLION streams on Spotify alone, with "Africa" alone counting one billion plays. Album sales exceed 40 MILLION copies. TOTO is one of the few 70s bands to have withstood the changing trends and styles and after a 45-year career, they enjoy a cross-generational fan base and still play sold-out shows worldwide.
Luke's ninth solo album, entitled BRIDGES, couldn't be more aptly titled. I see it as a bridge between my solo music and the music of TOTO," he explains. The fact that Joseph Williams, David Paich and I wrote most of the album, and the fact that I invited a lot of the old ToTo gang to play on it, co-writers like Randy Goodrum and Stan Lynch, brings it all together. It also proves that most of my old buddies and I are still good friends, and I wanted to make a record "in the style of" since TOTO will never record another studio album. This is as close as we're going to get."
