From the post- and psych-rock adventures of their debut "Yerself Is Steam" (1991) to the chamber-pop marvels "Desert's Songs" (1998) and "All Is Dream" (2001), orchestrated by founding member and master producer Dave Fridmann, to the consummate fantasy sound of "The Light In You" (2015), the band from Buffalo/New York has undergone an astonishing development. Singer Jonathan Donahue's cotton candy voice lends an almost unreal beauty to Mercury Rev's already rather weightless music.
