Booker Little was just 20 years old when he recorded his solo debut album "Booker Little 4 & Max Roach" for United Artists in 1958. On this album, the trumpeter, whom Max Roach had brought into his quintet after the accidental death of Clifford Brown, presented himself as the new hope of hard bop. The youngster, who unfortunately died at the age of just 23, also proved his originality in three original compositions.
