Tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine began his long collaboration with Blue Note in 1960 with a grandiose double hit when he recorded two excellent albums of soulful hard bop for the label: "Look Out!" and "Blue Hour". The latter saw a particularly fruitful musical exchange with the trio The Three Sounds, led by pianist Gene Harris, who had already established themselves as one of the best hard bop and soul jazz formations with their own recordings for Blue Note.
