Avanti (Gold Vinyl) [LP]

When you hear Malice K's songs, you initially think of breezy, acoustic lo-fi indie. In fact, the songwriter from Olympia, Washington, who has since moved to Brooklyn, makes wonderful songs like the recently released "Radio", full of great melodies, acoustically plucked harmonies and pretty brash lyrics.

It's hard to believe that Alex Konschuh, his real name, was an influential artist in the DIY punk scene in his home country. If you take a closer look at the newer tracks, however, you can clearly sense the proximity to his origins in the basement clubs and the underground scene - and that's where Malice K still belongs.
