After a couple of acclaimed but commercially unsuccessful records ("Jeopardy" and "From The Lion's Mouth" are widely regarded as two of the best post-punk releases of all time), Britain's The Sound were asked by their label to write a poppier, increasingly commercially successful LP. "All Fall Down" from 1982 is a dark, angsty and driven LP that is considered their most distant work.
It eventually led to the band being dropped and the label refusing to promote it. Now considered by many fans to be The Sound's most accomplished record, this dissonant and austere album is still regarded as one of the best British records of the early 1980s and clearly influenced the post-punk revival scene of the early 2000s and the more experimentally-minded groups such as Women, Viet Cong, Gilla Band and Protomartyr.
