The Virgin Prunes were masters of the uncanny, juxtaposing nightmares and lullabies, beauty and cruelty, combining soft vocals and spoken word with agonizing lamentations from purgatory itself. The first album "A New Form of Beauty" (1981) was recorded and produced by the band themselves. It contains the tracks from the first four parts of a five-part mixed project with Rough Trade Records.

This deluxe edition includes all four parts remastered from the original tapes with brand new remixes and tape loop mashup by Apparition and Gavin Friday in a 2CD deluxe mediabook with a 16-page booklet featuring brand new sleevenotes by Jon Wood and original Guggi artwork. Also available as a 3LP deluxe package.
