Beijing, June 20, 1900: The secret society of the Boxers assassinates the German ambassador and demands the withdrawal of all foreigners in the country. Under the leadership of Ambassador Robertson and Major Lewis, several hundred Europeans entrench themselves in Beijing's diplomatic quarter. In an almost hopeless defensive war, they try to defy the thousand-fold superiority of the Boxers until the approaching liberation army arrives.
